Welcome to Mrs. Lister's Website
This is my second year teaching second grade at John B. Dey and I am looking forward to a year of growing and learning.
We are off to a great start. We have been working on building a community of learners who are active thinkers, talkers, and listeners.
In Reader's Workshop we are learning different strategies good readers use. We have become experts in visualizing, making connections, and making predictions about what we read or is read aloud to us. We will continue to work on asking questions before, during, and after reading, as well as summarizing. Please practice these skills with your child when you are doing your nightly reading for homework. They have a lot to share with you!
Come on by and check out our first published books. They are hanging in the hallway outside of our classroom.
We are beginning our study of Seasonal Change in science. We are learning how animals adapt as the seasons change. We have learned about the science words dormancy, hibernation, migration, and camouflage. We have also learned about how nature changes with the seasons.
Today was our Famous American Day! The students did an excellent job dressing up like their favorite Famous American and doing their first oral presentation in front of the class. I am so proud of each and every student who participated! Study hard for our Famous American test tomorrow on November 6th.
